Imagine starting out on a road trip to a new destination, without a road map (or the GPS lady!) – you’ll probably end up regretting starting out at all! It’s the same thing with a storyboard – love it or hate it, you just can’t do without one. I mean, who really likes putting in tons of details like onscreen text, graphics description, animation description, interactions… into one document? Nobody, right? Yet, with all those elements left out, we would just be creating voice-over scripts and leave the rest to Fate!

To the uninitiated, a storyboard is probably a waste of time. To the hardened eLearning professional, it’s a life-saver. A storyboard addresses the W’s and the H’s of a learning plan. Borrowing from the principles of journalism, let’s see how it all fits in…

Many professionals believe that bite-sized learning has always been the right size of learning.  Some people may think it to be something that contains more useful content and that fits smaller screens or any screen. Micro-learning is learning in smaller fragments and goes hand in hand with traditional methods of learning. Micro-learning includes short-term topics, assignments or tasks with less amount of information. It is something that gives your learners the related information in brief, but it is smaller than any traditional training information chunk.

After all, with billions of world citizens toting mobile phones in their pockets, it was only a matter of time that mobile phones were considered to be the next big thing in education technology. The time has arrived!

Yet, many organizations and learning designers shy away from mLearning – either due to the myths that surround it or the limitations of the technology.
